Is Microblading permanent? No. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry) and age. Skincare routine will also impact the duration in which the pigment lasts. Tanning and products containing AHA or Glycolic Acid will result in the pigment fading faster. Color retention varies with each individual. Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a color boost (touch up) is suggested every 12 months.
-
Does Microblading Hurt? The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure, Beauty with a Blade will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic, we can re-apply as needed throughout the procedure. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling to the area is normal. Post-procedure, clients often describe the area as feeling like a mild to light sunburn. Taking Tylenol is recommended if necessary. DO NOT use Aspirin or ibuprofen as these pain medications thin your blood and can affect the healing process.

What can I expect during my appointment?Step 1 - CONSULTATION (20-30 MIN) This is where Beauty with a Blade will have you fill out consent forms. We will then spend time getting to know you and your lifestyle. We will address any concerns you have regarding the procedure and ask you questions regarding your daily routine. Please feel free to bring any inspiration photos you may have, and we will discuss shape preferences and pigment color. Step 2 - BROW MAPPING (20-30 MIN) Using Beauty with a Blade's measuring techniques, we’ll customize a brow design that’s best suited to your facial features. We will then review the design, make appropriate adjustments if necessary, and settle on a shape that you are happy with. Step 3 - PROCEDURE (1.5 HOURS) You're ready to begin your transformation! For your comfort you will be numbed throughout the procedure. Please advise you will be laying down for the entire process. Step 4 - AFTERCARE Beauty with a Blade will review after care instructions with you and provide you with an aftercare instructions card and kit that includes everything you’ll need for the initial healing period of 7-10 days. It’s important that you follow all of the aftercare instructions to achieve the best results and pigment retention for your brows.

How long does it take to heal?Your brows will go through different healing stages and will soften in color by up to 30-40%. You may begin to notice slight scabbing and pigment changes on days 4 through 7. DO NOT pick scabs as this may damage the skin and impact your final result. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as they heal. Microblading does not require post-procedure down time. The Microblading procedure takes approximately 10 to 14 days to heal and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You will begin to notice the color is lighter after the initial two weeks of healing. The skin may take on an opaque looking quality to it, this is known as “milk skin” and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. The color will return once the skin is fully healed. It is important to follow all aftercare instructions including the use of aftercare cream and any other post-procedure actions recommended by Beauty with a Blade.
-
How long does Microblading last?Microblading generally lasts one to three years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, or dry), age (young or mature), and your healing process. It is not permanent like a tattoo, because the pigments are not implanted so deeply into the skin. Skincare also affects the duration of the pigments.
-
What is a touch-up like and is it necessary? To perfect your brows, we recommend your touch-up is done between 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment. This step is extremely important to ensure you achieve perfect results. We use this session to finalize your brow shape, color, and make any minor adjustments if needed. A touch up session at 6-8 weeks is mandatory as everyone heals differently and each outcome will vary. Pigment color may need to be adjusted and more strokes added to optimize your final result. Less is more during the first session. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment.

Who is a candidate for Microblading?Microblading is for EVERYONE - men and women alike. There is a small list of disqualifications that will be reviewed during consultation. Microblading is not suitable if you: are using Accutane. have heart conditions or are using heart medications. have diabetes (or a physician's note is required). have skin disease or irritations. have had Botox in the last 2 weeks. have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks. are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine. have any serious medical conditions may require a physician's note. If you are pregnant or nursing, microblading is not recommended however, it can be done at your own discretion although we require you discuss it with your doctor first. *We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. Our brow technicians make the decision to microblade an individual based on their own discretion.*

What are the risks and complications? Here at Beauty with a Blade we take all proper precautions for a safe session by using sterilized equipment and single use disposable blades opened in front of each client. We strictly adhere to all proper sanitization and sterilization procedures. Microblading done improperly can leave scars so it is extremely important to have the procedure done by a certified, licensed and EXPERIENCED professional. When clients follow Beauty with a Blades pre-care and post-care instructions, there should be minimal to no risks or complications.
-
What if I don't like it? Can it be removed? As with all cosmetic procedures, Beauty with a Blade recommends thoroughly researching Microblading prior to making your final decision. Beauty with a Blade is here to answer all your questions and guide you through this process. Beauty with a Blade’s main goal is to provide you with brows you will love waking up to every morning. We promise each client the very best service catered to your individual needs. In the event however, you do not love your brows, every effort will be made to improve your final result. Please keep in mind that asymmety is common amongst most facial structures. Uneven appearance, pigment discoloration and color correction can be fixed during the touch up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done. Microblading can be removed, but not every microblading artist is legally required to do so. Certificate for removal is mandatory.
-
Should I tint my eyebrows before Microblading? This is not needed. Your brows are already going to appear darker than usual right after the treatment.
-
Should I shape my brows before Microblading?Yes. It is important that your Microblading specialist see how you normally wear your brows so that we can see what is missing and how to better create your dream style.
